Who We Are

At Swijin, we take women seriously. The sports bra is not just a strappy accessory. It's a determinant of performance, pace, and pain.

Which is why we invested over 1 million Swiss Francs in research and development to revolutionize the single most important piece of athletic equipment a woman wears.

We call it an investment in the invisible: Everything that's been overlooked, unsaid and settled for in a sports bra.

We relentlessly pursued beautiful design, textile innovation and exceptional fit; scientifically supported and second to none.

We can't wait for you to experience Swijin, Swiss sports technology engineered by and for women.

Our Purpose

Swijin is bigger than a brand.
We’re a call to action.

Established and created by - and for - women.
Engineered to be a promise, not just a product.
We’re a stand against the smallness of simple thinking.
An idea whose time has come.

From Swimrun Bras to Sports Bras

On my morning runs on summer vacation, I arrived at the ocean hot, sweaty and desperate to jump straight in for a swim. I tried. It was miserable. My sports bra became a parachute in the water and my running shorts dragged me down. After I came back home, I found no hybrid products on the market - nothing that dried in a flash and functioned both as running gear on land and as swimwear in the water.

Fascinated by the idea, I started to talk to textile specialists and conduct preliminary research. But this seemingly straightforward idea proved massively difficult to realize. Only with the help of scientists and textile engineers at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), did we manage to realize an entirely new invention:  A fast-drying, techy textile was the foundation. Our iconic double-layer Swijin design provided support on land and the compression of a professional swimsuit.

And then the unexpected happened: After a newspaper article was published about our R&D work with Empa, elite Swiss athletes knocked at our door. They had read the article and asked us to build a Sports Bra. Although thousands of sports bras existed on the market, not a single one at that point in time managed to solve all problems in one product.

The athletes consistently complained of poor support, soggy bras that never dry, chafing injuries and underbust bands that restricted breathing.

That’s when I realized It was a calling to play a part in a real global conundrum. It wasn’t just about drying fast or even support. It was about taking women seriously. Specifically, taking female athletes seriously.

We had a new mission. We immediately got to work with sports physiologists, textile engineers, sports bra scientists and our group of elite athletes across disciplines and of varying body types to fundamentally reinvent the sports bra. The innovative solutions from our original product largely informed the sports bras we invented: Underbust bands that allow you to breathe, and designs that give you the freedom to move like an Olympic butterfly swimmer. We bonded our seams to avoid chafing. And we discovered the secret sauce of support: We needed to stabilize the upper breast, too.

No more “shrink it and pink it” sportswear. Swijin innovates with the female-anatomy at the forefront of every decision we make. That’s my promise.
